dont use refresh air fresheners especially the "scent selection" ones i was driving the other day and it fell off after a hefty milwaukee pothole and i was late for work so i didnt think anything of it but i went to clean out my car today and it leaked and the freshener liquid ate away my center console!!!, theres now a section under my ebrake handle that has been reduced to rubber paste, i put a sticky pad over it but ill post pics later tonight

Thanks for this thread. I went and checked mine after reading this. It was inside the armrest. Sure enough, it had spilled a little. No damage done yet thanks to this thread! I pretty much never go in the armrest so who knows how long it would have sat there.

I just do 2 short sprays of cologne, it lasts for weeks. The cougar still smells like Lucky after 3 years of sitting.

I did something similar in my dads old chevy crewcab. this was before they had dash vent air freshners, so I took one of the bricks out of those can type air freshners with the MDF looking stuff inside and shoved it in the vent. it melted the crap out of it and my dad was pretty P'd off.

I always use those little cheap gel stick thinks that mount in the air vents. they wer out quick but they look good and dont destroy anything. speaking of that, how do those work out with the weird little tripod things in cougar vents?

that sucks, I love those things. any suggestions for a vent type air freshener that will work with coug vents? preferably something that doesnt look like it just escaped from Flash Gordon?

ahahaha thats one way of putting it, one that i found works is its called califorina breeze i think is just like the refresh liquid ones but its a gel and they all smell really good and i put the aligator looking mounting thing not actually on the vent but the gray vent shroud if you tilt the vent slightly back it works nicely

I think before I get a little tree, I'll just get one of those dash crowns the NY taxi drivers love so much...

I have a little tree as well. I pull out my cup holder and hide it under the center counsel. Works great! smells great and you don't have some air freshener hanging around looking out of place.

I don't even clip up my garage door opener

true, I keep damp-rid velcro'd under the passenger seat out of sight (my AC accidentally got deleted in "a race", )

but my main point is I like smell good stuff to blow out of my HVAC vents...

I wonder how hard it would be to take the vents out and put air fresheners behind there any time I needed to change the freshener?

do the vents pop out fairly easy?

You can take the dash cowel off fairly easily and chuck some air fresheners in the holes. I wouldn't want to shove air fresheners in them though, I wonder how hot it gets in there when you have the heat blasting? Plus I'd hate to have to take that all apart just to install some air fresheners.

I'll figure something out once I've got a car to play with.

can you get to the air distribution box easier? the one in the dash with the flapper thing?

maybe I could find something small enough to shove in through the vents and stick with double sided tape...

I hang one off the coat hanger on the D side. Doesnt obstruct my view. Only problem with that plan is the kids take it down when they get in back.
