if you got one of those wal-mart refill kits return it and take the car to a professional.

ok you can add the uv dye but you will need a few more tools to properly repair the a/c system.

first the low and high pressure ports are different sizes so they can't be mixed up. low pressure port is in front of the battery.

next you really should check the system pressure first. now this mean have a proper guage set and checking the low and high side pressure. the wal-mart kits only give you a low side pressure guage and that only tells you half the story.


next after the system is openned up to replace the leaking part, and you did recapture the R-134a and recycle it right, because you know its illegal to vent it to the atmostshpere, you need to bring the whole a/c system to a vacuum. so you need some sort of vacuum pump.

one the system will hold a vacuum it can be filled. also it needs to be filled to the correct amount. the a/c compressor shouldn't run continuously unless its well over 90 degrees out.

so basically if you don't have the proper tools or knowledge to work on the A/C system, don't. however it isn't hard to learn ....

 

Thanks for the info. I'm actualy not planning on repairing the system myself, I just want to know where the leak is. I had the system serviced less than a year ago for the same problem. The evaporator was leaking then and cost $1200 to fix because the stealership had to pull the dash. If it is the same problem, I want those bastards to fix their sloppy work. (Still under warranty) If not, I am going to take it to someone else that was recommended to me recently. The kit I got was cheap so it really isn't much money lost. I just don't want to have to pay one guy a diagnostic to find out I need to have it fixed under warranty by the other place. I figure that if it is the evaporator, then I won't find any leaks under the hood.
