Hello I'm new to the forum and I'm hoping I can get some good answers to keep my car out of the shop. About a month ago I tokk my car to one and they said my ignition coil was bad I waited it out and something finally happened. My car would chug when cold but not when warm. It finally died out on me while backing out of a space at work so remembering what I was told I changed the ignition coil... unfortunately it tried to turn over but would not fire up. So I changed the crankshaft position sensor because I found on this forum the same problem however I did not get the same result. My car is still not firing up.

Weird; all I can suggest is make sure the power plug and ground strap are both connected firmly on the new coil pack. Also see fuse diagram in your owners manual to inspect any fuses that are particular to the ignition system.

Nah, shouldn't have anything to do with a relay.

Those big plugs on the passenger's side of the engine that clip on to the rear valve cover, just to the left of the power steering pump. Sometimes those can get compromised and cause a no-start situation. Pull all of those apart one by one, inspect for contamination, and re-attach firmly. See if that changes anything as well.

Ok so an update from the shop. After they tested it for a few min they came out and told the bar was in fact sparking every once in a while and that he thinks it may be the computer in the car. He's doing more testing today to make sure it is or isn't

Finally solved all cougar issues. It was misfiring when it first started got it diagnosed as the ignition coil. The ignition coil went out (or something did) which fried my PCM. Got a salvaged one for $50 and reprogrammed for $95. Car had flipped it's fuel switch and also cracked the new ignition coil in the process of repair. The intake runners were also stuck open. After all the repairs my cougar is finally back on the road.

That is great btenn, I was going to suggest look at wiring and possibly The Fuel Pump Control Module which is located under The rear Seats or The PCM. But since you have figured out that The PCM fried, which for that year vehicle have not heard of too many frying The PCM, but it can happen, I know on these Newer Fords It happens quite often, and now They are Coil Over Plug and each Coil is between $80-$150 depending on if you get after market or Motorcraft.
