i had an idea about pistons from another vehicle to be swapped over (yes i know there would have to modifications to make them fit the rods) btw stock 2.5 pistons are 84mm. and how difficult would boring the block 2mm? and one final question...anyone know the piston size on the 3.0?

1. Really. Who's 2.5L engine???

Pre-00 2.5L Duratecs - 82.4mm bore (2544cc)

00+ 2.5L Duratecs - 81.67mm bore (2499cc)

All 3L Duratecs - 89mm bore (2968cc)

All Duratecs have a 79.5mm stroke.

2. As easy as boring out the cast-in liner and having a new set of larger liners pressed in. That should set you back a significant amount of money. I see you have not Searched this topic yet.

i did research the piston size and i suppose the source was incorrect. i'll look for the page later and post it. i remember the discussions about boring it to a 2.8 and i know the liners would have to be bored out, if my figures were correct, i just didn't know if the process would be any less severe...but probably not by much...so i did half ass research it  i do appreciate the info, and i'm trying not to take offense by the tone, because i have abrasive personality disorder too...jackass...

yeah i remember that was more trouble than its worth (to me at least) with my admitted small amount of engine knowledge, i just wondered if 2mm would require boring since a lot of aftermarket pistons are 1mm over...but apparently my figures were wrong so the pistons arnt really worth it on either engine. i'm not even persuing anything with the cougar anymore, just wanting to share ideas
