I don't know if this transfers to any stereo other than the one I have stock, but I just wanted to post it because I had a hard time finding this info out.

The following is a list of the speaker wires and what they go to from the wire harness when you pull out the radio (using the tools you can find at Pep Boys or Car Quest):

The wires connecting to the driver's side front:
grey/black wire is positive
white/black wire is negative

The wires connecting to the passenger's side front:
grey/red wire is positive
white/red wire is negative

The wires connecting to the driver's side rear:
grey/white wire is positive
white/violet wire is negative

The wires connecting to the passenger's side rear:
grey wire is positive
white wire is negative

Hope this helps someone. It's probably been posted before but I couldn't find it when I needed it, so maybe it will be easier to find this post.

I am a little confused as to what this is. Do you mean the in-dash changer? If you mean the trunk mounted changer, then you need a seperate set of wires to connect it to your stock headunit.

I was not aware that any Cougar ever came with a stock trunk mounted 6 disc changer. I stated it was from my stock 6 disc changer in my 2001 Cougar because that is the only stock changer I was aware was available on a 2001 Cougar. I said stock to make it as clear as possible what I was referring to, but to completely clarify, the stock 6 disc player in my car is an in-dash system. It came with my car. I needed this information when I went to hitch up a subwoofer I bought and I thought it might be useful to others.

I have a 2000 that came with a stock 6 disk changer. I wish I had a way to make it work with a aftermarket head unit.

This will save me tons of time.

I'm wiring an RCA Adapter to my stock 6disc so that I can run subs.
I've tried calling the dealership which was deffinately a waste of time, but this.... THIS... has made my day.
