Hey, I’m new here but I just bought my v6 cougar last year from a private seller and the guy told me the car pulled to the right whenever you would brake and I found out it was the front passenger side wheel bearing, so I took the car to my local mechanic and I found out that who owned the car had put in a larger bearing (length wise) so I ordered another bearing from a website called parts geek which came with a new snap ring, axle nut, bearing and hub anyways I take the parts to my mechanic and after the job he tells me my parts where out of spec and that the bearing is not long enough to hold the length of my hub on so he had to make it fit. In short my question is how big is the oem bearing and how many snap rings is supposed to be used?

Pronto was the brand but i just recently bought two wheel bearings, one from my local ford dealership and the other online. my biggest concern is do I need to have the outer snap ring, like does it hold the bearing in place to prevent it from moving if i hit bumps etc? Because after he finished the job I drove it the next day after and i was on the highway and we have those rumble strips and I passed someone on the shoulder who was turning left and after awhile I noticed the pull came back the day after on my way to work.

The snap rings don’t “hold” anything. You only use one on the inside so you know when to stop pressing it into the hub.

It's most likely the front caliper hanging up not the bearing. Mine does it currently but when I get the money I'll change them both out since they aren't more that 40 each. But also bleed your brakes as it helped my car not to pull as much but still didn't fix it

Pulling one direction under braking is also often a symptom of a bad lower control arm bushing. Since you’re pulling right, it would be the right side lower control arm. Worth checking on that.
