When my radio is on at night its very bright and well lit, but when I turn my little knob to where the headlights come on, the radio dims even with the interior light brightness all the way up.......wtf?

Step 1 - Get In Car
Step 2 - Turn On Radio, Lights are Bright
Step 3 - Turn on Headlights, Radio Lights Become Noticably Dimmer

Does your deck have a dimming feature?
Mine has a feature where when the dash lights come on, it will dim for nightime use.

My Silverado does that with the factory receiver. Everything dims with headlights on- common feature in most receivers. You can disconnect the dimmer wire on the harness...which wire is it? Must go do a search on my old post on wire color configuration's to get that one.

OF COURSE THEY DIM ;)

They dim because this is ford logic....

If the driver turns on the headlights then it must be dark outside and a lot of illumination is not necessary...

And make sure the adjuster is all the way up... if you have an after market deck maybe you crossed some wiring...
