I actually need to replace the base of my antenna. The stubby antenna I had in there broke off, leaving the tread in the base. I tried a few things to remove it, but nothing has worked. Now I would like to just buy a new antenna base and remove the old one. I heard that to get the antenna base off, you do it through the upper console inside the car.

I have the upper console with all the snowflake lights, etc... but can't seem to figure out how to remove it. There doesn't seem to be any obvious screws, or anything to take it down. Anyone know how to remove the upper console, and if its true that's how you remove the antenna base?

Thanks

yep it is true.. the screws are hidden behind the interior light and map lights.. if you look the interior light has a rectangle around it that is seperate from the over head console. use a tiny flathead screwdriver and wedge it between the rectangle containing the lights and the OHC. pry the rectangle part out and it should fall fairly easy and is connected to a few wires.. after doing this you can see the two screws you will need to remove (star pattern I do believe).. after taking the two screws out just pull on the OHC and it should come out b/c it is held by metal clips like everything else in the car.. after this you have access to the antenna base...

Nope... didn't try the potatoe...

I did try what CarolinaZN PMed me with... cut a slot into it with a dremmel and tried to use a screwdriver to get it out. The remaining peice actually started to crumble instead.

What is an Easy Out? I will go to sears and ask for one, how does it work though?

Edit: Thanks for the suggestions! :)
