most UIMs are pretty much useless without the rest of the parts, such as LIMs with bigger injectors and appropriate MAFs. An aftermarket UIM will net you some hp, but not much.

EDIT: i forgot to answer the guys question...
from what ive learned, the 3.0L manifold is plastic (2001-02) and aluminum (1998-00), the setup of the runners on the 3L manifold help with mid range tq and hp, but the arent extrude honed like the SVT manifold. Overall the SVT manifold is better IMO, but they are so expensive now, and the 3L is a substantial substitute cuz they are easier to come by, but they take modification to fit with the IACV and the EGR.......
Ive got a perfect 3L manifold from a 1999 taurus with the throttle body sittin in my garage, its for sale to whomever wants it

Ill clean it up real good for the buyer
