You don't have to take it out.

The tie rod end doesn't have to come out to get the strut out. Just make sure you've disconneted the lines of the struts, and loosened the pinch bolt on the knuckle. It may take a little working to get it out..but it will come out.

I've read that people use a 2x4...do you use it with a jack to push up on the spring?

tie rod removal tool can be had at most stores for 5-10 bucks or rented

be careful with the ball joint/knuckle or you can tear the cv joint if you let it hang
use a screwdriver and pry it up outta the knuckle.

put the nut on... only 2-3 threads though...

using rubber mallet or block of wood and hammer and knock it out

BTW: you need not remove the tie rod to install springs
