At Canadian Tire in Canada buy a compression spring 1/2 by 2 1/8. Costs about $1.50. Same spring has to be available in states as well somewhere.

Cut the spring in half.

Remove each side of existing spring from trunk lid. Insert 1 piece of new spring into each side. Keep all original parts as they are.

Now, when remote is pressed, trunk opens right up. When button is pressed inside, it may need a 2nd press at times. Still, better than not working at all.

Has been working fine for several months now and trunk is opened often.

mine had problems of not clearing when I pressed the button and there for I had to go to the back of my car press the button and then open it up manually. I just went to wal mart and got those little felt pads that go on the bottom of chair legs and stuck them to the rubber things on the end of the springs. It works great for about 3 months and then you have to replace them. but they are cheap, only like $1 and you get about 10 of them in a pack.
