depends on what kinda strobes you have. the kit that i have is the one that they use in emergency vehicles. i plan on removing my high beam bulbs (cause i dont use my high beams) and putting the strobe in there. ive never heard of strobes catching fire. if you are gonna mount them inside with the regular light, just make sure all wires are away from the headlight bulbs since they get extremely hot. thats the only reason why i would see a problem with it, cause you would melt the wires. as far as brands, i use a whelen kit, 90w with 4 strobes and room for 2 more. the controller has 32 flash patterns. and i paid 200 bucks for it brand new.
