"Honda says that nearly 652,000 of its vehicles may have a problem that causes them to roll even when they're in park with no key in the igniton.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration received reports of four injuries, 28 crashes and 169 complaints about the problem, according to online reports.

Several models are affected, including 1988-89 Honda Accords, 1999 Odysseys, 1999 Acura TLs, 1997-99 Acura CLs and the 2002 CR-V.

The NHTSA says metal particles in the key cylindar can interfere with the interlock lever, making it possible to take out the key without shifting to park.

The NHTSA says consumers who want more information should call (888) DASH-2-DOT."

So there's a defect in the key cylinder that lets people take their keys out without putting the car in park, and then the car rolls away? LOL!!!

Honda: "We're sorry Sir, we didn't idiot proof your car well enough! We'll do a recall so that every moron can park a Honda safely."

I have an 02 crv and have heard of this recall. Another similar problem is the shift cable from your selector to transmission can become corroded and decay due to the elements and its placement, so it shows that your in park or R, and then you go in either or opposite direction. Honda still has the best engineering around.

My old ford escort could have the key taken out of it while it was running... it was great! I loved it.

I could freak people out by driving down the road and pulling they keys out and handing them to them.

A girl I knew in HS could start her Blazer without a key. All she needed the key for was unlocking the doors.

Another recall was made today re some 1995-99 Cadillac, Olds, cars for bad plastic fuel injection fuel rails, that when they break, cause fires.

Many GM cars made in the 1950's to about 1962-3 had ignition switches that didn't need a key to use, if key pulled out at off instead of lock position.

bah, the worst recall I've ever heard of was for when the Daewoo's first came out in America. there was something wrong with the wheel mountings or whatever that apparently led to the risk of the wheels literally falling off

Hell, on my truck I consider that an added feature, not something to be recalled over. I'm smart enough to use my parking brake :stupid:

In baltimore we were having problems for a while with Buses lossing their tires while driving, maybe they were made by Daewoo
