for the past few months ive been driving around with this klunking noise coming from the right rear, or so i thought. a friend of mine mentioned it might be a blown strut. at the time i didnt have the money to get it looked at but yesterday i dropped my car off at the dealership. when i called to find out what was wrong they said that i broke the fron right sway bar link in half. i dont remember hitting any bumps really hard, so any idea how it would break? or why i didnt notice it when i jacked up my car last weekend? anyone else ever broken one of these?

Not a front link, but I've heard multiple stories of these cars breaking rear swaybar links, especially with aftermarket swaybars. So far no breaks on my car, even with the aftermarket swaybar.

Maybe you just got a bad one, or it rusted through?

The front links on the 99-00 are weak. But usually the joints go first...

Have it replaced with a beefier one from the 01-02 models.

Take it back to the dealer and request one of the mechanics ride along and show them the noise...you aren't talking about the noise that our cars are known for are you???
