How big of a power difference is there after switching in the SVT UIM and leaving on the smaller LIM? Is it actually noticeable or just on the dyno? I don't have the SVT LIM yet..Its in process..I'm curious as to if its going to make an actual difference..

Never honestly dynoed mine...My guess is it'd probably show a mild gain after the secondaries open, but nothing huge...might pick up some better gas mileage, ya never know.

But for the $90 is cost me to get the SVT LIM, and the fun I had installing it...it was worth it to me.

Since it's good to pull the UIM and LIM for cleaning, you just may as well put a better port matched LIM in there.

i wouldnt expect to feel gains until you start modding the motor more. than just a reasonably stock engine.

any mods to the intake or there in around is where i'd think you'd start seeing gains, like adding the UIM + aftermarket intake.

i have a spare in the garage......mine came with the uim package i bought , but i noticed a big differnce w/ the UIM/tb and the lim....but i guess its not that much different since i alrerady have the svt lim on mine (mine is a 00)

What about the earlier year SVT LIMs? Were the 98 Contour SVT LIMs also 34/35, or were they like our pre 5/99 cougar LIMs? Or were they somewhere in between, like some of the posts I'm reading on other boards (here, e.g) are now leading me to believe. I just picked up a 98 SVT LIM on eBay, and I'm just realizing I probably shouldn't have. *sighs* Can someone PLEASE confirm my suspicions ASAP?

Whatever difference there is between stock Cougar/early Contour SVT/late Contour SVT LIM sizes, it should be added to the stickied SVT Upgrade post so others don't make my same mistake. Nothing in there that I read detailed any difference between SVT LIM years.

The previous year LIM's I'd believe to be the same..The 98 SVT uims were the only differences in regards to what we're talking about with them being single extrude honed instead of dual.

Looking on ford-parts-online, they don't list a 98SVT LIM (that i've found) but they do have a 99-00 SVT LIM, so there has to be SOME difference, right?

Right from the SVT FAQ:

"In all cases, deduct $75 if you have a Cougar built after 5/8/99, as it will already include an SVT-spec manifold."

So, does anyone know definitively if those numbers I posted up there for the various years of LIM are correct? The guy I bought the 98 SVT LIM from is letting me back out of the eBay auction (provided I pay his fees of $4.75, more than fair) rather than accept delivery of this part. If it's 32/33 as I think it is, then that's what I'll be doing. If it is in fact the same as the 99-00, then I'll keep it, obviously. My searches on google point me to LONG ago dead fordcontour.org pages discussing the topic.

Please respond here or PMs if you know for sure...the sooner I can let the seller know which way I'm going, the better. He's been infinitely cool about this, and I don't want to drag it out further. Item number 7995300168 if anyone wants to see it.

EDIT: Update, called my local ford parts dealer. He assured me there was a difference between the years, and that it was a "port size difference" with the 99/00 SVT LIM having slightly larger ports. So, there we have it.

The lesson: Get a 99/00 SVT LIM, and a 2000 SVT UIM if you believe there's a difference other than the outside cosmetics.

Though this brings up one question for me...I can still take my return-style injectors/etc and put them into the 2000 SVT LIM, right?

I hate to bump old threads but i guess this is what searching will get you...Anywho. cosmetically whats the difference between a 98 svt UIM and a 00 SVT UIM. Is there anyway to tell? I see so many for sale here but i rarely see the year posted? This question is also for the TB as well. I see on some where the SVT logo Is facing Up whers as the one i have is facing down

A '00 SVT UIM is known to be "smoother" as far as the powdercoating, whereas a '98 would be more "rough".

The other difference is the flow data breakdowns:

Stock Manifold = 155 CFU
Single Honed (98-98.5 SVT) = 170 CFU
Double Honed (99-00 SVT) = 180 CFU

I'm not sure what you're asking about the SVT TB's. All of them should have the logo facing up, because they're all the same.

:banghead: mine isnt. That little rectangle right before the lip of the TB is facing Down. Thats the only way it would line up....Could it be just a regular 3.0 Tb then? cause the butterfly opens the opposite way. In any case why lie when selling it? Well the UIM seem pretty smooth the (even though the powdercoat is chipped in 1 or 2 areas)
