Alright, I know that this is a fairly stupid question, but I never claimed to be a genius. My car is a 2000 Cougar... can anyone tell me a way to see if it already has a factory alarm with it? When I got the car, it only came with one key anyways, and we had to go get a second one made. There may have been a keyless entry thing with it, the people at the dealership never told us.. so, is there a possibility that there may also be an alarm in it as well, and can I get a remote at the dealership? Heh, I feel stupid lol, but the only way to get an answer is to ask the question.

I don't know if there is a way of telling unless you have a factory keyless entry remote. Really, the best thing for you to do would be to go get an aftermarket alarm from some place like Best Buy, Circuit City, or a local stereo shop. You should be able to get an alarm with a shock sensor (something factory alarms don't have), and keyless entry for under $200 installed. Dealerships would probably charge you twice that for something that isn't even as good.

I want a really good alarm for my car because I love it to death, but money's pretty tight right now. I may be able to stretch a little for one, but I don't know. I'll just have to venture out to Best Buy, Circuit City, and a few little places like Car Audio and stuff like that around here that I know are good, and see what I can manage.

Does anyone know if the DEI Rattler 300 is worth it? At Circuit City, the price is listed at $120 I think.. about how much does it cost to get one installed? I may be able to get a discount through my friend, but even if I can't, it doesn't seem like that bad of a price. Anyone know anything about this alarm?

i work at circuit city and put my own alarm in i have also heard rumors of car manufacturers putting the keyless entry in but not listing it so when you come back for it they just program the remotes to it sketchy on that but if you want to try you can find some on ebay for the facotry remotes but you have to find out how to programm them on your own
