yesterday after noon around 3pm
i started my car up and went for a drive.
its a 2001 i4 cougar 42,000 miles
after switching gears at 3400 rpms i heard a sound that sounded like a teradactyle or some ****
weird???? (lasted about 2-3 seconds then disappeared until the next up ****)
happened when I seemed to give it to much gas on the upshift. Or quickly shifting up .
now the car had been siting in the drive way all day so i don't think it was the cold
I started my car this morning and no horrible noise. But the day before it did it constantly on the time span of several hours.
weird and it makes me nervous is my tranny and clutch going and if so what kind should i replace it with.
or is this another case of the moose

I am guessing you have an MTX, right? Is it a grinding sound? And does it happen in specific grears only? Possibly syncros. Mine went out twice, first time at 20K or so - second time was near 40K. Syncors are very expensive to have replaced. After my warranty was up I decided not to shift as hard as I used to.
