I'm looking at getting some 17" wheels for Stock class autocrossing (this should be legal since the special edition cars came with 17" wheels). Anyway, I'm wondering what the width of that wheel is, since I'd have to match it with my aftermarket (hopefully very lightweight) rim. I'm assuming it's 7", but I don't know for sure. Thanks.

I'd appreciate it if someone would check for sure. I'd be a bit shocked if they were 5", but I suppose they could be. I'm going to be bummed out if they're less than 7", it would limit my choices a lot...

Additional question... did they actually offer any packages in MY 2001 that came with 17" wheels? I thought the Zn and C2 did, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it only started in 2002?

I'm almost certain they are 6.5", but I can't seem to find the post that stated that anymore. The ZN was the only '01 model to come with 17" wheels.

My understanding of the stock class rules is that the only way you could legally run 17" wheels would be to fully convert your car to ZN specs. Your region may not be a strict as mine, but I know the St. Louis region would make you run 16s or be bumped up a class since your car is not a ZN.

Aside from the wheels, spoiler, hood scoop and paint, I didn't think there were any differences between the Zn's and regular Cougars. I find it hard to believe that they'd make you "upgrade" non-functional (and not significantly heavy) parts. Then again, this is the SCCA... ;)

I'm not looking forward to running on 16"x6.5" wheels...
