Yes and no. People do it, but typically all the electronics, etc. have to be covered in some way to prevent the water from getting in. If you must do it, have a shop give it a go. They'll probably give you some crap about not being liable if something goes wrong, though, so it's up to you...

For two years I have been cleaning my car engine with the steam cleaner, no problems yet, everything works like clockwork.
