i have a black 99 cougar and there are spirals all over the car. would a good buff and wax take them spirals out. or how much would a full black paint job cost
the clearcoat has been scratched. stop taking your car through the automatic car wash.Originally posted by: NoMoreWalkin4Me

Try a good polish and see if that works! Otherwise you may have to get the thing color sanded.
I second that!! I have a black cougar as well and that process works really well if you're like me and don't trust yourself with an electric buffer (don't want to burn the clearcoat off)...I use Wizard's clay with Zymol or Meguiar's detailer spray. Gold Class wax RULES!!!Originally posted by: Phantom
dude, all black cars have swirls, but the following steps will make it look perfect again:
- Clay Bar
- 3M Swirl Mark Remover for Dark Colors
- Meguires Polish
- Meguires Gold Class Wax...
I guarantee it will glow after that...
THAT is the real answer.... just make sure of which grade of compound u use... to heavy and u will buff the clearcoat off! :biggrin:Originally posted by: kustomcougar
get some compound and a high speed buffer and then wax it after you buff it. i work detailing cars so i know all the secrets!![]()
i think its another term for wet sanding :shrug:Monteknical said:I have a rio red new paint about a year ago, and I have those damn swirls (spirals) too!!! They drive me insane!!!! :banghead: Now about this color sanding, what is it? I have never heard of it...
