SCCA Solo-1 speed trials?

Has anyone ever done Solo-1 racing instead of Solo-II "autocross"?

I'm fixing to start running in the local SCCA division in their Solo-1 events at an old airfield here in town and was wondering if anyone had any tips, hints, advice, or stories of past Solo-1 races.

SCCA Region 12 "Gulf Coast" Solo-1 info.
