ok I just bought a single set of rod bearings as in enough to do one rod. Trying somethign with this. But the question is should the alignment tangs be on the same side or different sides of the bearing? anyoen have apictuere of theirs when they bought them? i jsut need to knwo so that i don't run into a problem down the road.

Thought you woudl all be the most helpful since many have had rod bearings installed or installed them before.

tangs should line up....

ummm... why only one rod bearing... may i add this is a very very very very bad idea.... unless the motor is essentially new and you had some kind of anomally to destroy just 1 bearing you are going to introduce an imbalance to your rotating assembly if you have 5 old bearings and 1 new one.....

Seeing as your's destroyed its current rod bearing it doesn't look like you have a choice. I'm not sure how long it will hold though if you do get it in there.

ya i know it may not last much time at all but i just want to get it up and driveable again and then will probably buy another car (I want to unload my Diesel Jetta before winter mainly because i dont' want to deal with a slow asss smokey diesel all winter.) before winter starts. So the cougar will get maybe a few thousand miles and if she doesnt' make it that long i can always pickup my dads DD Escort to drive for awhile or something.

Also, I am in the process of trying to accumulate the parts for a 3.0 for this cougar so I will hopefully finish that by spring for a mid to early spring drop in.

So basicly saying that they should line up means taht if you take the two halves and make it into a solid ring the two tangs should be on the same seam and be lined up with each other so it is like a circle with one bump out on the one edge. Correct, that is what line up means right?
