With a used road bike make sure you check out the mileage of the bike. There is no use buying a road bike where you have to drop an additional $200 to replace all the components righ away. If thats the case you might as well buy new. Also this time of year you might be able to find a really good deal on a 2010 bike at a shop. They are trying to get rid of their old modles to make room for the 2011's.
What are you going to use the bike for? If your using it for racing or strictly highway then a road bike is prefect, but if your wanting to commute with it, going up curbs etc. You might want to look into a hybrid bike. It's basically a beefed up road bike designed to be a bit stronger so it can take the odd curb without bending your expensive race wheels.
Ya i was just looking for an older or lower model road bike for fun. I have a nasty downhill bike now but wanted just something different.
