Comin home from a party I was drivin in my ATX V6 Coug and i hear the high pitched rev of a ricer...Next to me pulls a yellow MTX SVT focus we reved when we got to the light. Light went green and we went. i did everything i normally do cept I didn't turn O/D off.... When it shifted from 1st to 2nd he pulled quick and I was done. Later I pulled up next to him and asked him wut he had.. He said all engine but he had NX Nitrous...(didnt spray though)...can this be true or did i mess up?

it can be true. A zetec cougar can beat a v6 atx if driver is good, and then you figure in the focus is a lot lighter. Question though how was it high pitched and ricey if it was just engine and only other mod but not used was nx?

Well if it was a SVT focus, it was 170hp, vs your 170hp car that weighs more.. his MTX vs your ATX... I'd say that I'd favor the focus

Yes, he did have mods but it was still naturally aspirated... I could hear the basic intake and apexi exhaust ( I assumed because of the "apexi" sticker on his window)...Guess i need to be faster...

ATX cougars have no game. There is only one moderately fast atx on these boards that I know of, and I still run faster than him with my MTX basically stock.

I stomped cavaliers in my 2.0 Probe, don't give me crap. My friends GTP is an auto and he can take nearly everyone, if not everyone, on this forum, even if it was still stock.

Well...to be fair, you're not talking about a Ford automatic transmission there. Plus there's the little matter of the supercharger...

Ummm.. I coulda sworn we were talking about a focus and or a cougar. A GTP is supercharged and has a sporty auto tranny. An auto cougar on the other hand does not have a sporty tranny. The tranny was taken from contours which were/are old people movers.

I owned a ATX Cougar and I know for a FACT they are slow as fawking ****! Also you may want to read the thread from here on out so you know what cars are being talked about in the thread. You should also check into learning the differance between a N/A engine and a forced induction engine, or you should keep your hands off the keyboard untill you have some knowledge of cars.

Ok, didn't mean to offend anybody. Yes, it is supercharged and our cars are naturally aspirated. The point is "Not All ATX's Are Slow". That's my point, If someone were to want to spend the money and time to build the atx. It's just as quick as a mtx.

I don't see where it says all automatics are slow, I see that it says ATX Cougars are slow, but not all automatics. In some cases autos can be faster, just not in a Coug.

Ok, I assumed. Anyway, their slowness is exaggerated. I don't see how a cavalier or a zetec could beat me. I've raced a 5speed escort, which has the zetec but is light. I'm guessing the engines are equivalent but I dunno, I've also raced a mtx 2.0 probe and I beat that also, by car lengths which I assume to be quicker than the zetecs. I dunno. Sorry if I offended anyone but I had to throw in my 2 cents because everyones got one, just like...well, you know.

ok, i understand that, and I'm sure the rest of us do too.

fyi, the zetecs are more powerful than the mazda 4cyl in the probes. I had a 2.0 probe and it pumped out a whopping 118hp at the crank, even less tq. the zetec i believe is 135hp? correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok I know this is off topic (but so were the last 5-6 posts). base model cavaliers are slow. But I ran a 15.6 in my bone stock'99 z24 cavalier with worn goodyear rsa's (other 2 runs were 15.8 and 16.4-lots of wheel spin)

not saying that's the best time in the world, but I don't see and v-6 mtx cougars running any better. Just sticking up for my old J-body friends (visit J-body.org to see some pretty quick cavaliers)
