For a 2001/2002, you have to drill the rivets out since they're rivets and not bolts or screws. It's pretty easy really, just get a drill bit that's slightly larger in diameter than the hole in the middle of the rivet, drill the sucker until it pops off, and voila. The two holes can be covered with two small plastic 'cosmetic fasteners'. Basically it's a round, flat piece of plastic with a ribbed neck. Paint it bodycolor, clearcoat it, stuf them in there. I suggest the GM version, because they're smaller than the Ford version. You can get them at your local auto parts store and they're usually sold with the packaging that says 'Body-Tite'.

I don't want anything for the front, it mars the beauty of the car. Even so I wouldn't know what to put on there if I did want something! I hate those gay airbrushed nameplates that people have, along with the mirrored plates w/ car logos, and everything else. My car's black, you wont notice the holes too badly i promise :)

I just pulled mine off. I remember it being a pain in the ass, but it didn't leave any marks and the holes aren't even noticeable, especially on a black car.

On the flip side, I just moved from NC to MA and will now need to install a front plate... is this something I can do myself or should I just take my car to the dealer?

When I bought my last car, a '98 Monte Carlo, it came from a state that didn't have front plates, so I went to the dealer and bought the front bracket. It took me all of about 5-10 min to install. I just drilled the holes in the bumper and screwed the screws in. If the plate is held on by rivets like previously discussed, then it should be even easier, just pop them in! Good luck.
