Remote Keyless Entry or no?

Hi, all;

I recently bought a used 2000 V6 (which I love dearly already). It was missing a few things (spare tire, etc.), and I've started to wonder if it was supposed to have a remote keyless entry. It has power locks and windows, and the whole transponder key and the red light on the instrument panel and all, but there was no remote when I bought it. It came from a dealership, so I couldn't ask the owner. So is there a way you can tell? I don't want to go to the trouble of buying a remote and trying to program it if it's not equipped. I suppose I could go ask at the dealership, but I'm just looking for an easy answer before I go to that length :flushed: Thanks!

Do you have cruise control and a rear windshield wiper? If you do, then your car was equipped with the convenience package, which includes remote keyless entry/trunk release/alarm activate keyfob. If not, then your car just has the basic PATS (passive anti-theft system) which is a transponder key and a shiny blinky red light.

Cougars come standard with power doors and windows, as well as A/C.

I have the same problem.............. no keyless entry................. but if ihaving it means that i have to have a rear windshield wiper than i dont want it........................................ i dont like the rear windshield wiper at all............

I do indeed have cruise and a rear wiper-

guess it's time to start shopping for a fob!

I had the same question as bennet9000, and I do havbe the rear washer, and cruise. Can i just buy any of the remotes off e-bay and program it?

That's what I'm doing. There's a guy with several pairs of OEM remotes at 19.99 each, and you can easily find programming instructions by searching this how-to forum.

i dont have cruize or rear wiper but i have remote keyless...

Yeah just make sure it's a Ford one, and it has lock, unlock, panic, and trunk buttons and you'll be good. If you get 2 fob's then you'll have to program them at the same time or one won't work. Very easy.
