Question from fustrated modder about head lights

Ok, question for all of you that have changed your light bulbs in your 01-02's... How in the hell do you get that black plastic cover off the back of the head light housing to change the damn light bulbs?! First of all, after I take the wire clips off, I can't even get the opposite side of the cover to come free. And even if I could get the damn cover to come all the way detached, there's not even enough friggen room in the bay to pull it all the way out of the way. Man, I didn't think it would be such a PITA to change a simple bulb.

You need to remove the entire headlight assembly, there are three screws holding it in.

Josh,

Your owners manual actually has halfway decent instructions on this. In order to access the headlight screws, first you need to remove the 2 screws holding in the grill and remove that - then remove 2 screws & loosen a third one (on the backside of the light) then the entire light slides out. Ford does warn in their instructions though -- the screws aren't interchangeable and have to go back in the original position.

Thanks for the fast response guys. I had a feeling I was going to have to remove the whole head lamp assembly. Oh well, I only have low beam replacement bulbs right now so I guess I'll wait till I have the high beams too in order to save myself the hassle of having to take the head lamps out twice. Thanks again.

Ok, I did exactly that but the head light assemblies still won't come out. It definitely feels like they want to just slide out but the sides closest to the fenders just won't budge. Is there like a technique to finessing them out or is there something they might just be caught up on? I really appreciate any help, thanks.

just remove the 3 screws holding each light in and pull the whole headlight assembly out towards you. it will come out, but might just take a little tugging.

Hmm... I guess I'll try it again tomorrow. I know I got all the screws but I thought maybe I missed a clip or something because I heard cracking when I really tugged on the right head light.

When I say to move, it means go someplace else, not switch positions with each other so there are still two dogs in the way.

The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help, because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king size bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue to ! sleep on the couch to ensure your comfort. Look at videos of dogs sleeping, they can actually curl up in a ball. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space used is nothing but doggy sarcasm.

My compact discs are not miniature Frisbees.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, try to turn the knob, or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. In addition, I have been using bathrooms for years, canine attendance is not mandatory.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dogs butt. I cannot stress this enough. It would be such a simple change for you
