yeah, unless you want the paint to look like ass. It's a slick finish and the paint just won't stick (or it will, but chip off easily). Fully sand the inserts, then primer, then sand....repeat this until it feels super smooth to you - then wash it with soap & water, let it dry all the way, then paint in really really light coats (can't stress that enough).
