So I was washing my car and I noticed that the color of the hood is different from the color of the car. It's not like a completely different color, it's just not as glossy. I washed and waxed my car but it still looks different. Anyone know what the problem is? I bough tthe car used so could maybe someone have gotten the hood replaced and forget to like clearcoat it or something?

I'm looking at getting the whole car painted as well. Anyone know any good places to go in north-central-ish NJ?

And you think I should go with jet black or like a darker grey than I already have? I'm 50/50.

looks like the hood was repainted and not matched perfectly. Makes me wonder if your car was in a minor wreck of some sort.

believe it or not there are about 3 shades of Spruce green. If they just take the color code with otu directly matching it with the car, it will be off. For example...

Mine is the second Spruce Green one and the first belongs to Tigger. Same color code but they were VERY noticeably different..especially in person..Neither one had been repainted. Personally I like the color andprobably won't change mine. I've had numerous inquiries as to if it were a custom color. Thats enough to make me want to keep it.

The laser red is that way because its a tri-coat. Just like a kandy paint, the color can be changed by everything from air pressure, speed of the painter, flash time, and number of coats.

I'm with Lostracer on this one....Spruce (besides laser red) is different. I know between 00 and 99 there were VERY noticible differences. I also know this because my neighbour has a spruce windstar and taurus and they are completely different from each other and my cougar...and none of our cars have been repainted.

the sky had a big impact on this pic...

It is also possible that the hood was repainted with a single stage paint. They tend to fade quicker and while they look like a good match initially, it doesn't take long to see a difference.
