Can anyone help me or send me a how to on instaling coilovers on a 99 cougar, including how to and where to cut the part of the strut that needs to be removed and what is it going to be replaced with!:stupid::slap::ugh::cover::

you need to cut off the spring perch on the strut, I tried attempting it witha dremel but after 15 minutes and like 1/2 a container of cutters I decided to let someone else do it (someone with the right tools)

You don't replace the perche with anything....GC will rest right at that weld spot (you're not going to get it ttoally removed)

Hope this helps.

if you don't have a high powered grinder, the best thing to use to remove the spring perches is a hack saw. it's a bit of work but can be done in a couple of hours. I suggest doing at least a day before the swap as it is tiring work.

but this assumes your replacing your struts. if your not, get your car onto four jackstands and pull those struts out right now! cause you'll be needing them :)
