MSDS headers are here, no just a couple Q's

I just would like any last minute advice before i install these tomorrow.

do you really have to remove the alternator? I have gutted the pre cats, but i only removed the front manifold, not the rear. how much of a pain in the ass is the rear manifold gonna be?

If anyone can offer some tips on tricky stuff, that'd be great:thumbsup:

Don't remove the alternator, that propaganda is BS.

Rear manifold trick, you NEED to remove the studs from the heads, so......

1) Loosen the nut on each stud a few times (12mm?)
2) Then remove the stud/nut with a 5mm socket.
3) make sure you bend your arm in every way possible


I'm pretty good at the job now, if no major things arise, it can be done in 4 hours.

It also helps if you unbolt the motor mounts... you could then appy tilt the motor slightly if you have a means to do so

Make sure to grind on the headers before you install them.

The ports can be cleaned up and the outlets have inner welding that should be removed.

Use some ThermoTec (high heat) paint on the spots you fixed.


Front bank is a piece of cake. Much easier then it looks. Extensions and universals. Simple on & off - nothing special needed.

The rear bank is a much simpler job (still a PITA because of the lack of room!) if you have gear wrenches.

Doing the "alternator" way is at least 30 mins longer then pulling out the studs on the way out. (unless the alternator top bolt is stuck!)
It's about the same on the way in.
