Im interested in buying a new head unit for my cougar but its given me some questions i cant get answered so im asking you guys. Is there anything i could get that can just fit into the stock dash or am i going to have to get a kit to install it?

so will any mount work or am i going to need a specific one? i heard of eclipse parts sometimes working for our cougars but i dunno...

The Pioneer 1.5 DIN unit expects GM (or Chrysler) mounting points, that we don't have. You'd have to rig something up. The dash kit from Circuit City looks great in Cougar, and lets you use normal single DIN headunit, flush. I used some felt pads on the sides to make it fit snug.
Putting HU in my Grand Prix sucked, because there's no clearance behind it. It has to stick out of dash by like 2 inches, and looks awful. Love my Coug.

The other option if you want to use a double din is to rip out the ashtray and ciggy lighter to open the space up more and fill in the rest of the area.
