I read through it and it appears to be a nice article. It explains how police radar/lasers work and what too look for in a detector.

One thing it failed to mention about some of the units (1 at least) was the ability to update the detectors software through the manufacturer. This allows your detector to always stay on top of current radar technology (the Valentine 1 is the only one I know of in the tests that can do this).

It's also shocking to see how far the jammers go to making your car truely stealth. And for $1,600 it damn well better. Read the review here.

sounds like it would be a good article, but 11 pages is a little too much for me to read....lol

$90 cobra radar detector. that's all I need. I just slow down whenever something appears on it.

I have owned a $30 Whistler, a $80 Fuzzbuster FB4000, a $180 Cobra, and I currently own a Passport Escort 7500 (Lincoln LS) and a Passport Escort 8500 (In the cougar)

I would not switch back to ANY other radar detector from the 8500 (currently). You realize when you own a cheap radar detector to ignore half of the Alerts, with the 8500 I pay attention to every one in grave detail, because about 90% of the time its a cop, yah he may be 3/4mi down the road, but he's there...

Must say I'd recommend it for price & Value!

My radar detector works great. It warns me whenever I get near a Giant Food store. It also warned me that the car passing me had been shot with a laser, right before the cop pulled out to give me a ticket. :disgust:

I got the Bel Vector 985 for Christmas, and the ratings on this article are dead on. It has saved me a few hundred so far in speeding tickets. I commute 60 miles a day, and its pretty damn accurate on the highways.
