I know we don't have Collector Cars yet, but since one of my Cougs was built in 1998, we're getting close! I think that recognizing Collector Car Appreciation Day will help us secure collectable status for our Cougs - lowering insurance rates & helping to keep alive interest in the New Edge Cougar.

Check out the Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/CollectorCarAppreciationDayCCAD/) and the SEMA Action Network (SEMA Action Network (SAN) DRIVING_FORCE_ONLINE:_OCTOBER_2017,_ISSUE_2_B) page, and see if anyone else thinks this is a worthwhile model recognition/publicity move for NECO.

Sorry about the pasted in links - I couldn't get Insert Link to work even after allowing pop-ups and turning off NoScript and Privacy Badger... sigh

I was just wondering about this last night - are we doing CF 2018? I think Stuart was working on a proposal for the Detroit area, but I haven't seen anything lately.

I still have to talk to the hotel and the property management group that owns the road around the hotel, this winter has not been kind to the roads around the hotel that I scooped out back at Thanksgiving and Cougars, lowered or not, will not be happy with the road as it is. I have an alternate hotel chosen on roads that aren't bad, but it's more expensive, traffic does build up around the hotel after 4, and the food choices aren't as good. I'll deal with it over the weekend and get back to you guys.

As to the date, I was originally planning on July 19th-22nd, there was no specific reason for this other than that the third weekend in July usually works for most people. I suppose I could post a poll asking which weekend is best...

July is pretty clear on my own calendar right now - the OVR SCCA isn't having any events that month. Indycar at Mid-Ohio is the 27-29, but sounds like that's not a weekend in discussion.

Detroit might be a cool place to be on the 13-15 weekend.

I have doubts about how active the car scene will be mid July, half the city is on vacation up north, the other half is doing tool work on closed plants, the whole state is almost like Europe in August. Dream Cruise will shut down woodward for a week in August but July is usually pretty dead, there are a few Every Weekend type shows that pop up though.

Currently the only "classic car day" show even listed by SEMA's website is on July 1st 40 miles away from the venue.

I just checked Autocross and the only thing that weekend is up in Oscoda 166 miles north. Looks like AROC Detroit no longer hosts their own AutoX at nearby Oakland University.

M1 Concourse has a public track day on the 15th, but it's $300...

There's always hanging out on Woodward on a Friday night, cops will kick us out at 10 though.

No Cars and Coffee events that weekend so far.

And now I remember why I wanted to do the 19th at first, the Rouge Factory is shut down the first two weeks of July for retooling. Tours still run, but the factory itself is empty except for workers repairing and upgrading equipment. The exact dates of the shutdown aren't yet determined, but would likely include the 14th. Regardless, I recommend out of towners could just spend more time in the Henry Ford Museum, which is much more impressive than an assembly line, everything from GIANT Diesel-Electric or Steam engines, to President Kennedy's Lincoln limo which has since had bullet proof glass added as it went on to serve till Reagan took office.

Actually, I won't be able to make that weekend - we have a camping club rally the same weekend that I almost forgot about. Is that weekend still the plan?

It's not being good with a schedule, it's getting too many unimportant emails & failing to make deadlines because I spend too much time reading emails...
