Ford Recalls

Got me doing my homework......LOL This is all I could find for recalls but thought I'd share in case anyone was unaware of these potential problems.

You can go to the Ford website and type recalls in search. You enter your VIN and they'll let you know of any recalls on your car.
Hope this helps.

Well, at the Ford parts site (Ford employee access site), all recalls are listed. We know about them before anybody else, for parts availibity and what not. The most recent recall issued was last week for the Ranger.

At this point, there is no recall for the sunroof.

Has anyone had a "creaky" sunroof problem. It creaks when going over bumps at town speeds. I brought mine in and it started up again.

As fett was saying i have access to those and i already checked. There aren't even service bullentins to Mechanics about common issues with Sunroofs. I don't see a problem, sept mine needs waxed already..

I find it strange that it's such a common problem yet there are no TSB's for it..

This can't possibly be all the recalls for the Cougar. I know of at least one that isn't on the list. The trunk latch that doesn't work was recalled. I had mine fixed for free.

just got off the phone with ford
no recall
but i was told that ford will be willing to cover it
if i take it to get looked at a a dealership than then find the problem and then after that i call comuster service about gettig it done for free or like half the cost
so aleast ford isnt a toally dick
but i found it funny that the person i talked to (recall rep.)was not awere that was a problem at all and he never heard it before

That's actually not strange at all, the last dealer I worked for was a L/M, and we never had any sunroof work on a Cougar. And we had a LOT of Cougars come in for other things...but no sunroof. Had I not read about the problems here, I would have never known it was a problem.

My point is, just because a lot of members have had problems...does not mean it's a wide spread problem. The percentage of Cougar owners with early sunroofs here is high, for broken sunroofs. But the overall percentage, in my experience, has been fairly low. We had a TON of Cougars come in our shop, being one of the most central located dealers in Ft. Lauderdale, and part of th elargest chain of L/M dealers in South Florida, and we did not get many sunroof problems. A lot of alts, IMRCs, fuel pumps, the other usual suspects. But suprisingly no sunroofs, and I would have figured that being in South Florida, we would have had a lot of broken sunroofs.

Either way, I HIGHLY doubt there will be a recall issued on the sunroof. It is a popular opinion to see consistant problems (sunroof, IMRC, alt, fuel pump), and think that Ford should issue a recall on said parts. While it would be nice, believe me I WISH they had recalls....the more parts sold the more I make. But it is highly unlikely that Ford will issue a recall on a non-safety issue, on a discontinued car.

Be glad you don't own a Probe....it's insane how much stuff for the Probe costs. :)

damn fett you take this whole thing way to personaly
i hate ford not you
so just calm down

i dont think it real safe to be driving to work at 7 am in the pouring rain with the sunroof open
all i want ford to do is make the 2 dollar part that messes the sunroofs up availble for 2 dollars and not making a sucker like me go and buy the 650 dollar sunroof assembly
