I have a 99 sport with 2.5L ATX and when the engine reaches approx 4200 rpm it begins to surge rythmatically. this happens either in motion or in neutral. Have changed the filter and the car runs fine as long as it is kept below the 4200rpm point. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

Does it surge to the point where you can feel it buck?

IMRC stuck closed?

Do you have a "check engine" light?

yeas it is a very pronounced surge! am check in the secondarys now so i'll know more about that in a few minutes

ok the imrc module appears to be working fine the surging starts before the secondarys open and it coninues even after they are open. and there is no check engine light, the surge is very pronounced with a steady tempo and is not erratic...

Just as info The problem has been found Fuel pump related. thanks folks for your responses

Aw man, I was going to say fuel pump too, and sound all smart... I'm going back into hiding till there's a question I can actually answer.

At least you diagnosed the problem!!
