Zetec Timing Belt Replacement How-To

[*] Full Instructions w/ corresponding images.
[*] Includes tools needed, belt number, and materials needed.

Removal instructions for old belt top half of How To.
Installation instructions for new belt on bottom half.

Thank you so much merc.! That is an awesome how-to!

One question. Did you replace the timing belt on your zetec? How much of a pita is it to do? From looking at the how- to it does look like something that might kill a weekend for me but doesn't seem to be impossible.

Thanks that would come handy down the road. at what point does the timing belt needs to be replaced is it like 60 thousands or so?

zeteckat, unfortunately my timing belt snapped about 25 miles from my house.. and since I have AAA and an extended warranty, I had it towed 1 mile to the dealership to have them do it.. if I had it towed to my house, AAA would not have covered it, and I would have been looking at around $200 - $250 just to tow..

blast.. Ford recommends around 60k.. it's a good number, but I'd go 55k if it's not impossible..

Or can someone scan me the pages out of the Chiltons manual on replacing the timing belt? ... I need to do this Monday so I have a car for class on Tuesday..

edit: No longer needed. Afterhours emailed it to me.
