On the front ones I took off the plastic piece, then I took off that little metal box but I still couldnt pull the wires off the spark plugs! is there a trick to it? Also, how do you get the back ones off? they look impossible! do I have to remove something? I have a 99 cougar.
Thanks,
Ron

im guessing you have a v6...
when i changed mine i took out the box at the back that all the spark plug wires plug into there are 4 screws holding it down. and then you can get back there...i have seen some posts that people didint take it out but i did.
as for taking out the wires, just give them a good pull, i had a hardtime taking mine out too, make sure you pull on the black caps, not on the wires themslefs..
pm if you need anything else! hope this helped.

Thanks for the info! Problem is, I still cant get them out! I took off the black thing and was able to get back there but no matter how hard I pull they wont come out! im afraid to pull any harder because of damage to the caps or wires. IS there a tool or something you can buy to take them off? any other tricks?
Thanks,
Ron

It's called a spark plug socket. They do come in a few sizes for different applications, but generally they are all about the same size. Just take one of your new sparkplugs down to sears/pep boys/napa... and find the right one. It might cost a few dollars but you will use it the rest of your life.
