I'm wondering if there is a way to rewire my cigarette lighter so the power to it goes off when I turn the car off, and goes on when I turn the car on. Basically I want to be able to leave things plugged into the lighter socket so I don't have to unplug them everytime I turn the car off and plug them back in when I turn it on again. Is there any way to set this up?

you'll need a relay switch cause the cigarette lighter sucks some good power.... now do this

WIth the relay switch wire the cigarette lighter's main power lead (orange wire) into the relay's main lead
You can use the common ground found on the cigarette lighter for the relay's common ground
Use the ignition lead from the stereo (splice into it and extend some wire down) for the relay's turn on wire....
finally wire the 87 (sometimes the have 87 and 87A use both) pin on the relay to the main power of the cigarette lighter.... now each time you turn on the radio you'll get power
