i saw the how to on ceg but i am wanting to see how people did it on their cougars and please post pics

Hmm... I wonder if the How-to they give also applies to the Cougar? From what I can see, we have a 'lip' on the outside of our hood that might not work with the placement of the strut... any ideas?

If you are talking about hood struts, I made some custom ones a few months back. Here are some pics. Worked really well. However my car is in the body shop right now after an accident and I'm getting a kaminari hood. Hoping the hood will still be able to compress the struts. You'll notice my brackets are "brass" colored in the pics, but I've painted them black since the pictures.

what parts did you use and how did you do it?

I used Mighty Lift 9512 (think thats the number) $20 each and $5 for the door brackets. I used the struts recommended in the CEG how to. I custom made the brackets meaning basically I drilled holes in them and put some washers and that was it

Used the hydraulic lifters from a group buy held way back when CEG was on it's old board.

i would be real carefull when you try to close that kamanari when you get it back outta the shop, good chance its gonna snap.

Yeah I'm going to try and find the same size ones but just not as strong. I may try one side this weekend and carefully pull my hood down and if there is any resistance I'll stop. Not risking the hood. Now that I have my car back, the weight of hood is definitely noticeable. Thanks for warning.

stkcoug, btw did you get a chance to send that brake light lens?
