I have the rings done, the resistors and leds together what size and kind of wire did you guys use?

I think I used 18 gauge.

Wire is not important for LEDs that much. An LED draws so little current, you could almost literally run them from a single strand of copper. The only real importance for wire guage on LEDs is the physical wire / insulation robustness for surviving physical environments such as the engine compartment.
