Question posed in topic..
The Headunit is too bright even with the dimmer turned down..
I turn the dimmer down far its good but dash too dark... etc..
is there a way to maybe step it down?
A resister in the dimmer control wire to the stereo? would that work.
How do I know what kind to get, etc?

ok well, I guess it won't hurt to try... I think I'm just going to get a dimmer switch rotary and install it..

Eric what kind of head unit do you have? My old pioneer had an setting in the one menu where you could adjust the head units brightness other than the thru the dimmer switch. I had to turn off the head unit...and hold in the feature button down for a few seconds...goes into a menu to set the clock..the dimmer...turning the preouts on and off...some other stuff. Hope that helps...you can always look at the manual...:biggrin: If I remember right you don't have a factory head unit...

Actually, the unit is a Jenson, for my parents VAN... I bought a dimmer... but it didn't dim enough... hardly at all... they are on their way back to FL tomorrow. so I'll have to try again in the future... but for now my dad is gonna tint the face.. LOL he's a wild man...
