After somewhat extensive research, I wanted to check here to see if anyone else has any ideas about putting the GETRAG 6 speed from a focus svt into our cars. Seeing as the focus and cougar as well as many other FWD Ford products share the same transaxle I think this may be possible. The only problem I am seeing is if the input shaft and splines will match, I realize that it will for the 2.0 Zetec cougars/contours, but what about the 2.5/3.0 duratecs? I have been looking everywhere to find the spline sizes and tooth count for both cars and have found nothing. If anyone can give me some answers I would greatly appreciate it.

I believe this was brought up around the introduction of the focus svt and the final answer was the gearing was too close to make a noticeable difference in our car. IIRC.

Ok, I just stumbled out of bed for my morning fix of NECO, so I could be wrong here, but isn't the Getrag a "weaker" transmission than the MTX-75? Something about it has two somethings, where the MTX-75 only has one? I can't remember what those "somethings" are, but I'm pretty sure it is something along those lines as to why the Getrag = teh suck.

IIRC the svt getrag has dual out put shafts and is weaker than out mtx. Focus has a different final drive and revised shift forks.
Better just to beef your mtx.
