Anyone here "locally" have one of the service manuals on CD that folks sell on eBay for the 1999 Cougar? Granted, a lot of you don't need them...but I could use something to fall back on if I get stuck on my upcoming plugs/wires/oxygen sensor/PCV valve project.

Incidentally, anything else I should do while I'm at it? I haven't "optimized" the throttle body or cleaned the UIM or anything like that. Would this be a good time? Anyone want to come to lowly Clinton and help a brother out? ;)

Anyway, on the CD...there are several available on eBay (or they're all the same...without screenshots and the like, I can' t really tell), but if someone in the MC area has one they could copy for me, I'd be more than happy to send you my $10 or whatever to cover it. That way I know I'm getting the right thing and (in theory) I'd get it quicker.

Won't see you guys at CougarFest. Having a birthday party for my son that weekend (turns 1 on July 30th!).

As I understand it, this isn't something I can get my hands on normally, is it? Meaning, unless I'm an "authorized Ford/Mercury technician" I wouldn't be able to get it? Seems to make me feel that if I need one, I should get it by any means necessary.

At any rate, more than one thread on this board recommends picking one up. I was just looking for a recommendation...

...which I didn't get, so I guess no harm done.

Don't listen to Zack, he's been funny like that since he let a chick wreck his car. :p

Ron and Brad both have the service CD, and there are others on here that'll copy it for you for the cost of the CD. I still need to grab a copy myself, as I keep forgetting to ask when I'm actually around Brad and/or Ron...

Heh, I don't know who "ron" or "brad" are...but I'm willing to pay for the CD, shipping, and a lil' extra for the trouble. Like I said, for all I know, all the cds on eBay are created equal...but if someone in the group has one that for sure applies to my car (1999 MTX) that would rock. It would additionally rock if I could get my hands on one soon. Today was the first day of my 2 week vacation, and I've already picked up the plugs, wires, O2 sensor, PCV valve, EGR Position sensor (this IS the same as the DPFE sensor, right?) for my project. I was hoping to get my hands on some SVT parts as well, but finances are too tight and now I've got that wheel bearing going out, so what WAS going to be an SVT UIM/TB is now going to be a wheel bearing...just doesn't seem fair. :(

But please, anyone who has the CD applicable to my car, lemme know. I could even download the image from you if you prefer (I have DSL here).

That's just straight up software piracy there. Making a copy of an INFORMATION DISC is not the same, especially when its been an open topic across the forums for YEARS.

I'm assuming the '00 model year is sufficiently different from my '99 (9/98 build) that I should look to find a '99 CD...right?

MOST 00 have returnless fuel system if my memory is correct (but i am old and getting grey hair so its a bit fuzzy) 99's got return. thats the only thing i can think of right now.

each year there are some revisions to the car... your 99 may also have a returnless fuel system... that is dependent on the build date....

the 2000 cd should suit you well and solve your needs (short of fuel pump replacement... but on a return system, you wouldn't need to do it)

My '99 was built in 9/98...should be a return system, correct? As I just explained in a PM to jrak, I don't fully understand the differences between return/returnless...but if I were to mess with the injectors (cleaning the LIM or whathaveyou), wouldnt there be some differences between the '00 and the '99?

Sorry if that makes absolutely no sense...I may be way off base (and please correct me if I am...I'm learning as I go and I'd rather know the right answers before I get into this).
