After chasing down the source of my "Bulb Failure" alert this past weekend, I thought I was in a good spot to make a complete list of all the bulbs to check when you can't seem to determine what needs to be addressed.

I've counted a total of up to 25 exterior bulbs on my 99 V6, so here are all the possible spots to check when your 99 Cougar throws a "Bulb Failure" warning light on the overhead console, followed by the quantity and the bulb part number.

IN THE HEADLIGHT CLUSTER:
Low-beam headlights (x2) - 9006
High-beam headlights (x2) - 9005
Turn signals (x2) - 3157
Front parking lamps (x2) - 194

Fog lamps (if equipped) (x2) - 893

Side marker lamps (x2) - 194

IN THE TAILLIGHT CLUSTER:
Backup lamps (x2) - 1156
Turn signals (x2) - 1157
Brake/tail lamps (x2) - 1157
Rear parking lamps (x2) - 194

High-mount stop lamp (x3) - 2825

License plate lamps (x2) - 168

NOTE: The '99 "Bulb Failure" alert will remain lit until you press the brake pedal on every startup.

Feel free to offer any additions or corrections to this guide, and I'll update the post accordingly.

You can also put 194 in place of the 168 the 168 is just slightly shorter and fatter than the 194. They both are the same wattage's I believe.
