Hello, universe.

Friend of mine recently acquired a '99 Escort ZX2 ATX. I know nothing about them, besides that they have, I think, the 2.0L Zetec, or some parent of our current version. Can someone please point me in the direction of forums or other information about the Escort?

I wouldn't even waste a penny on the ZX2 though in my opinion. My experience with the car was horrible. It's a throw away car.

ZX2 is very quick car for two reasons:

1. early 90's Mazda Protege = light body
2. Mazda gearbox + Zetec > CD4E + Zetec

Prior to the Cougar, I had a 98 & 00 Zx2 - loved 'em both, with the only problems with them being the 98 had a split cv joint boot they noticed at the first oil change & the alarm would randomly go off.

My question is with the Cougar & now the Zx2 being dropped, what is Ford going to do for a FWD "sporty" coupe?
