Found something interesting online today:

Ford Duratec 2.5/3.0 V6 360 (45) fully dressed
Ford CDW27 60 deg V6 365 (47) as delivered to assembly plant
Ford/Mazda Mondeo V6 225 (64) 60 deg, all aluminum, 4v

Looks like Ford saved 140 lbs by making an all-aluminum version of the Duratec. i wonder how much more $$$ that engine would be...

the duratec has always been all aluminum................

while aluminum does weigh less than iron, it doesn't weigh THAT MUCH less... the 06 mustang's aluminum v8 block only weighs 70 lbs less than the 04's iron block.

Nick is right ... it has always been all aluminum. However, I think what you quoted Gary is correct. Perhaps the last line is for the shortblock only as the heads are probably 30-40lbs each and the rest that makes up a long block would make up the rest of the difference.
