I recently purchased a 2001 cougar and the previous owner ran the brake reservoir empty. When I got it the rear brake pads were completely gone and the fronts were recently changed. I can't find any leaks but the brake pedal drops to the floor quickly and there is absolutely no fluid in the reservoir. I don't know how long he ran it like this but it couldn't have been long because there are absolutely no brakes.I refilled the reservoir and am planning to bleed the brakes normally.

I assume there is air in the ABS module now. Has anyone had any success with the backyard method of driving and then slamming on the brakes to activate the ABS and rid the air? This is assuming I can get enough brake to get the ABS to activate.

Anyone tried and had success with this or is it ridiculous?
