I was driving home from work tonight on the highway going about 70 in the left lane when a massive cow appeared out of nowhere in my lane. I swerved to the right, lost control, swerved back and forth across 3 lanes about 3 or 4 times missing the cow, I almost regained control of the car when it all of a sudden it did a 180 and plowed down a roadsign. I came to a stop in the ditch facing the proper direction between the highway and the access road. The 2.5 inch steel pipe hit the drivers side tail light, bumper, tore off the spoiler, dented the decklid, and popped two tires. Neither my passenger or I were injured in any way thankfully. I look forward to seeing my insurance rates go up!

It was not a fun experience, I don't particularly like coming within 3 feet of a concrete wall while out of control.

Cows are pretty worthless POS animals...their only good use is hamburgers and milk.

Then I would have a totalled car on my hands and some hospital bills.

But it is a good thing i was able to miss the cow and the wall.

Had that sign been placed 1 foot back I would have cleared it!

At least i get my scratched bumper, cracked tail light, and gouged spoiler replaced! All of which were there before the accident.

The damage is done and they have to replace the parts anyway...

I'd rather go to Wendy's for a burger!

Can't sue the owner in Texas. It would be cool if it was a little different in Texas, but there are laws protecting farmers and ranchers in this state. Alan, make sure you get it fixed fast. You have 2 weeks before the meet, and hopefully everything is fine by that time.

Figures you can't sue an owner of a wayward cow in Texas
Don't you have a gunrack in your Cougar for a gun to shoot the beast with? Metal and plastic can be fixed easliy - human flesh is a little different - glad your not hurt. But could be worse, in some countries, including some European countries, if hit a cow or other farm animal, the DRIVER is responsible, and has to pay $1000's of dollars in losses to the farmer.

I am very lucky I missed the cow and the concrete wall.

That disappoints me that I can't sue!

anyway...the police never could find the cow.

if you woulda hit the cow that would have changed the fact about the police.......I've never heard of anyone hitting a cow, but if you did I'm sure you'd get on the news in these parts. That could be cool.

That sux to hear man :(. Something similar happened to me Sunday night when a friend a I were going home after eating at another friends restaurant. I was in the right lane on I-6 going 65mph when all of a sudden a dear appears and I swerve to the left lane. I then try to correct myself and go back to the right lane in case another car was in the left lane but i start fish tailing and im braking hard thinking im going to pull a 180 but the car just kept fish tailing back and fourth until i gained control. Luckily I stayed on the road the whole time for just being 2 lanes but I've already been in an accident where i had to replace my back bumper so I tried my best not to wreck. GO Cougar Handling!!! Im not tryin to jack your thread or nothin but i thought our stories were similar that i had to bring it up.
