When was the Cougarfest page last updated? When is/was the
Countdown to Cougarfest 2004: 9 months, 1 week, 3 days, 16 hours
accurate?

I read it October 15, 2003, 5:30 pm EST and I work that out to mean Cougarfest starts July 27, 2004 at 9:30am.

However, that's a Tuesday, so I don't think that's right....

(Yeah, I know I'm pushing for info, but I'm already wanting to make plans!)

you are forgetting 2004 is a leap year :)

actually the code is set to July 26 2004, 10am.

since we have not yet picked a date, that should not be there...

i would update the page but for some reason i can't connect via ftp from my hotel room.... i'll try later tomorrow from work....

it really shouldn't have a date, so i'll phrase it along the lines of "Tentative Countdown to CougarFest 2004"

The tentative date as of now is July 22nd 10am (Thursday)

Believe me... nobody wants this info more than me. Believe it or not within the next couple weeks i need to bid on my vacation for next year, but we are in a holding pattern because the calendar for next year isn't set for at least one facility that we're in contact with.

When we get confirmed dates they will be released in a timely manner. We may not release total show information or hotel information at the same time, but that would be to get all the details ironed out.

I hope we can have this event either in May like last year (HCKC in Indy last year had perfect weather / temperature) or later in the summer... either before it starts to get REALLY hot out or after the hottest days of the summer are over.

I dunno about any of you who were at Virginia beach, but i had to stay indoors for part of cougarfest, just cause it was SO hot out, i actually felt physically sick :ugh: way way WAY too hot out in mid July... btw, that reminds me, i owe Slurpee 1L of orange gatorade... heh.

so how bout it? can the organizers maybe push to have it earlier in the summer?
heh, i dont think i'm the only who hates the extreme heat...

don't forget that we will be in Indy, and not Virginia beach...the temp difference should be noticable.

May is not going to cut it, and let me tell you why. The previous Fests as well as HCKC didn't take much more than booking a hotel. Ford took care of us for the first few Fests, Pigeon Forge was a hotel event. And how lucky were we that Trashmore had a vacant parking lot? HCKC also took place in a parking lot IIRC.

CougarFest 2004 will be NOTHING like those shows. We plan on having a full weekend's worth of events, not a single day's worth with the rest being free time. In order to coordinate everything every facet of the weekend has to be fully planned out. The whole weekend will not be held at the hotel only, so we need to coordinate with our other location(s). We have to plan around our hosts' schedules.

This is October 16th, and i am still trying to secure our locations. This will probably take another week or two. Then we can start securing sponsors, planning on food, etc. Then there are the all-important T-Shirts. In my estimation it will take until May for us to begin to breathe easier.

The biggest complaint about CougarFest 2003 was that it just seemed slapped together. Pizza and pop... no raffle prizes... T-Shirts weren't there... If you all truly want all this then it will take from now until the summer to plan it all.

CougarFest 2004 will not be compared to the Fests of the past... it will be the benchmark that all future Fests will strive for. Best fest EVER!

Edit - 80 degrees is considered heat? You all should come to Clairton Works for a day... when it's 80 degrees outside i'm looking for snow.

heheh, crazy idea, but i mention it out of sheer curiousity - but what about an INDOOR event / show eh? that would kickass...

chilling/relaxing/fun = hotel area
car show / raffle prizes etc.../ food/drinks = indoor arena (or something)

hey, if its gonna be a car show, make it a REAL car show where we can all setup displays, and clean our cars like beyotches - and not have to worry about dust and dirt and rain getting on them. Plus it would just be 'nicer' and more professional i think.

... and people like me and Heather don't have to worry about the 'gross' heat  :)

And you plan on getting around... how? Or should we charter big tour busses to take us from the hotel to the arena? i'm sure they'd be air conditioned, so we'd be alright there. Then again, that would get rid of the police escort idea.

oh.... well no no, i was just thinking of how cool it would be if we basically had what we did at Mt.Trashmore ......indoors.
we caravan from the hotel to the 'arena'... park, clean/setup, look at the cars, have food, drinks, do the raffles, hand out the trophys, hang out some more... then caravan back to the hotel / out for food or whatever people wanted to do after words,.

but yeah, i can kinda see how if we had all the cars inside somewhere, we would be kinda stuck... for the day at least

Keep it off the July 24th weekend, I have a wedding to attend. Jerks! How dare you not think of my situation.

Just as a note, if we kept with the tradition of the past few years, it would be on the 3rd weekend of July, which is the 17-18.

It may be a possibilty to do it at IRP Indinapolis Raceway Park. Just like at Import and Truck Bash. There are many hotels and even a camp ground right across from the track. If it is open it would be perfect. If it sounds good I will check the place for availabilty in May.

I hear ya Don on the whole Vacation Bid process.....ours is goin on now until NOV 1st I think....but Capital One is doin it in 6 month increments this year, as a test....so as long as Fest isn't before the end of June, I don't have to know until March  when the second half of the year is available for bidding
